Allstate Foundation & Family Biz Builder Are Bringing Out The Good in Tunica Together
We would like to thank the Allstate volunteers for being a positive force for change in our community. Gene Davis of Memphis, Vivian Thompson from Atlanta, Valerie Randolph of Smyrna, and Anthony Dean of Southaven has given their time and enabled us to receive an Allstate Foundation Helping Hands Grant. The Allstate Foundation supports the causes that the aforementioned Allstate agency owners, financial specialists, and employees care about most by providing Helping Hands Individual Grants to nonprofits where they volunteer their time to bring out the good in the communities.
VIVIAN THOMPSON | Biz Builder Literacy Program
Although Vivian Thompson’s agency is in Atlanta and she has built solid relationships with many local families, her roots are in the Mississippi Delta. She uses her wisdom and influence to support our Biz Builder Literacy program. When she last visited, she spoke with the group about the character trait, self-control. With her brilliant personality and energy she had the children engrossed in tales and situations about the importance of self-control. She discussed with them the importance of knowing how to read and power of the knowledge that comes along with reading good books. Our participants were so inspired and filled with enthusiasm.
GENE DAVIS | Biz Builder Sports & Fitness Program
Gene Davis’ Insurance Agency is located in Memphis,TN, but he was born and raised in Tunica County, MS. He is a proud alumni of Rosa Fort High School and the University of Mississippi. Gene's agency is licensed in TN, MS, and AR. We are glad he makes his way back to the Mississippi Delta to expose our youth to such wonderful experiences. Gene met with our participants on the Tunica National Golf Course for a training session. He was a radiating positive energy that really affected our golfers. They were focused and showed him the utmost respect. They even invited him back to teach them again and again…and again. It was an amazing sight to see. Thank you, Gene, for you time and efforts!
ANTHONY DEAN | Biz Builder Sports & Fitness Program
Anthony Dean studied business at the University of Mississippi and has been a licensed insurance agent since 2004. In his free time, Anthony enjoys golfing and reading. He understands the importance of improving literacy rates among our children and youth, as well as, expose youth to the sport of golf through the Biz Builder Sports & Fitness Program. The program focuses on connecting character and life skills to the sports of golf and tennis.
Anthony has shown so much compassion to our community and made a great impact on the children, youth and families we serve. He has helped us fulfill our vision to develop a growth mindset in the community.
VALERIE RANDOLPH | Biz Builder Literacy Program
Valerie Randolph has worn many hats over 25 years with Allstate. She believes in protecting things that are important, especially the future of our children, youth, and their families. Valerie understands the importance of building a solid foundation for the future and developing long-lasting relationships. That’s why she supports our Biz Builder Literacy Program. Our literacy program is based on solid scientific research and focuses around the five essential keys to reading success: phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency. Our mission is to improve our participants’ report card grades in reading and spelling and increase the amount of books read per week.
