Our Mission

Family Biz Builder empowers and uplifts youth and families by helping close gaps in literacy, character, and life skills so individuals can learn, grow, and succeed in school, work, and life.

Our Vision

To develop a growth mindset, embracing mistakes as opportunities for continuous improvement.

How It All Began

Peggie Henderson started Family Biz Builder in 2014 in Tunica County, Mississippi. The idea was simple: young people in our community had the talent and drive to build careers, businesses, and futures. All they needed was access to real training, real skills, and real chances. That's why we made the training center.

What started as a training program in Tunica for people in the community has grown into a full youth development organization with three programs for young people ages 5 to 26: Literacy & Education, College & Career Readiness, and Sports & Fitness NJTL. Hundreds of families and young people have gone through our programs. We're making the model that makes them.

Our journey has been one of hope, resilience, and partnership. Through the support of dedicated volunteers, mentors, and community leaders, we continue to expand our impact and create lasting change for generations to come.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Family Biz Builder is a sports-based youth development organization founded in 2014. We're a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving young people ages 5 to 26 and their families across Tunica, Coahoma, and DeSoto Counties in Mississippi and the Parkway Village–Oakhaven area of Memphis. We use athletics, education, mentorship, and entrepreneurship to build literacy, character, life skills, and workforce readiness.

  • Literacy, character, and life skills are the foundation on which everything else is built. A young person who can read, think clearly, and follow through is a young person who can build a career, run a business, lead a family, or do all three. That's what FBB programs are designed to produce.
