Biz Builder Literacy Program
Family Biz Builder (FBB) promotes quality early childhood education and youth literacy.
FBB's literacy program provides evidence-based remedial reading skills and training for youth in the following key areas of literacy:
Phonological awareness - the ability to identify and manipulate parts of words in oral language.
Phonics - the relationship between phonemes and graphemes for written language.
Vocabulary development - the ability to understand words in spoken and written language.
Reading fluency - the ability to read with accuracy, rate, and expression
Reading comprehension - the goal of reading -- the understanding of what was read.
"Reading proficiency by third grade is the most important predictor of high school graduation and career success. Yet every year, more than 80 percent of low-income children miss this crucial milestone."
