Family Biz Builder Mentees excelling in school.
They both are Higher Learners in the Literacy and Education Program!

Dominique received $50.00 for completing the first and second diagnostic in all three subjects: math, reading and language arts and showed growth in each area.

The Higher Learners of Family Biz Builder were celebrated during the holiday season for taking their diagnostics for Exact Path. What is Exact Path, you ask? Exact Path is an exciting digital tool that personalizes learning across grades K–12 in reading, language arts, and math. It starts by targeting the academic strengths and weaknesses of the child with a computer-adaptive assessment, and then it prescribes a tailored playlist of lessons, practice, and short quizzes at their learning level.
It was exciting to kickoff the diagnostic assessment with our first Higher Learners Virtual Party with mentees, mentoring coaches and parents on screen!

Gift Bags of school supplies for all mentees who completed the second diagnostics for math, reading, and language arts.

Jaboris, Jaterious, Madison, and Maryah all received $10 cash for starting their diagnostics and also received gift bags of school supplies.

Darrion said he really likes Exact Path and was the second one to receive a gift of $30.00 for completing his first and second diagnostics in math, reading and language arts.

All featured mentees received a gift bag of school supplies provided by United Way of the MidSouth.

Parent, Natasha Robinson, receiving gift bags of school supplies for her children! She said that she is very appreciative of the supplies and most of all sees how Exact Path can make a difference in the education of the children.
Closing the Gap in the Digital Divide in the Midst of COVID-19
We all know that COVID-19 has caused extraordinary stress on all levels of our education system from early childhood through post-secondary. It has made challenges and inequities in the system more visible than ever.
During the pivot to remote educational training, the mentees of Family Biz Builder (FBB) are impacted by the digital divide by not having technical devices. To address this issue, FBB created a Technology Loan Assistance Program (TLAP) to close the gap by providing access to laptop computers.
Thanks to the financial support of Jennifer Hampton, The Box Project, and Daisy Hampton, Owner of Including You, partners of the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi for donating funds for laptop computers to ensure all of our mentees have the proper technology and equipment to move forward in their education.
