The FBB Development System
One Place to Start.
One Plan to Move Forward.
You may know your child needs more support without knowing exactly what kind of support will help.
Family Biz Builder gives youth and families one clear place to begin. We start by learning about the participant, identifying priority needs, creating a Personal Development Plan, connecting the family to the right support, and monitoring progress over time.

Serving youth and young adults ages 5–26 and their families across Tunica, Coahoma, and DeSoto Counties, Mississippi, and the Memphis area.
Families Should Not Have to Guess Which Program Their Child Needs.
A child may struggle in more than one area at the same time.
A student who is falling behind in reading may also lack confidence. A teenager preparing for graduation may need academic support, career direction, better communication skills, and help creating a next-step plan.
That is why Family Biz Builder does not begin by asking families to choose a program.
We begin by understanding the participant.
“The assessment helps us see the needs.
The plan helps us decide what happens next.”
Every participant enters through the same system. After the family completes registration and the Needs Assessment, the FBB team reviews the information, identifies the most important needs, and creates a Personal Development Plan.
The participant may be connected to one pathway or more than one pathway based on the plan.

The Old Way
Choose a program first.
The FBB Way
Understand the need first.
Build the plan.
Assign the right support.

01
Tell Us About the Participant
Registration gives FBB the basic information needed to begin the process.
The family shares information about the participant’s age, grade level, school, strengths, interests, current concerns, goals, and contact information.
Registration is the first step. It does not guarantee placement into a pathway.
02
Help Us Understand Where Support May Be Needed
The Development Needs Assessment helps FBB understand the participant’s current strengths, concerns, habits, confidence, readiness, and goals.
Questions may cover areas such as reading, writing, school performance, study habits, physical activity, communication, leadership, college preparation, career direction, financial knowledge, and family concerns.
The assessment is not a medical, psychological, or clinical diagnosis. It is a youth and family development tool used to guide planning and service recommendations.

03
Our Team Looks at the Whole Picture
FBB does not make placement decisions from one answer or one concern.
The team reviews the registration, assessment results, age, grade level, goals, strengths, family concerns, and current capacity. When necessary, the team may ask follow-up questions before making a recommendation.
The purpose of the review is to decide which needs should be addressed first and which services FBB can responsibly provide.
04
We Turn the Review Into A Clear Plan
The Personal Development Plan, or PDP, explains what the participant will work toward and how FBB, the participant, and the family will support that progress.
The PDP is created before pathway-specific services begin. Tools such as IXL, Winward Academy, coaching sessions, sports instruction, or Virtual Training Center resources may be assigned inside the plan when appropriate.
The tool does not determine the plan. The plan determines how the tool is used.

05
Review the Plan Together
During Family Orientation, FBB presents the Personal Development Plan and explains the recommended next steps.
The family has the opportunity to ask questions, understand the expectations, discuss scheduling, and confirm their readiness to participate.
Orientation is not simply a welcome meeting. It is where the family and FBB agree on how the plan will move forward.
06
The Right Support Begins
After orientation, the participant begins the services listed in the Personal Development Plan.
A participant may enter one pathway or receive support through more than one pathway. Services depend on the participant’s needs, age, readiness, family participation, service availability, and current FBB capacity.
Literacy & Education
Supports reading, writing, subject confidence, study habits, assignment completion, and academic foundations.
Academic & College Readiness
Supports school performance, ACT and SAT preparation, study planning, college applications, FAFSA, and education after high school.
Workforce & Career Readiness
Supports career direction, communication, résumés, interviews, leadership, employment planning, financial readiness, and entrepreneurship referrals.
Sports & Fitness NJTL
Uses tennis and partner sports to develop physical health, discipline, character, teamwork, sportsmanship, confidence, and leadership.
Family Engagement
Provides practical resources, family education, communication, and targeted support connected to the participant’s development plan.
Important Note
Pathway assignment does not mean every participant receives every service listed under that pathway. The Personal Development Plan identifies what is appropriate for that participant.

07
We Review
What Is Working
Service assignment is not the end of the process.
FBB monitors participation, progress, and engagement so the team can see what is working, what is not working, and what may need to change.
Progress may be reviewed through attendance, platform activity, mentor or coach observations, completed assignments, assessment results, family feedback, and participant goals.
One Participant May Need
More Than One Kind of Support.
Development does not happen in separate boxes.
Reading challenges can affect confidence. Low confidence can affect communication. Weak study habits can affect test preparation. A lack of career direction can affect motivation in school.
The FBB Development System allows the team to coordinate support across pathways when the Personal Development Plan shows that more than one area needs attention.
A Younger Participant
A child who struggles with reading and has limited physical activity may be assigned to Literacy & Education and Sports & Fitness NJTL.

A High School Student
A student preparing for the ACT who also lacks career direction may receive support through Academic & College Readiness and Workforce & Career Readiness.
A Family Support Need
A participant may receive pathway services while the parent or guardian receives resources through Family Engagement.

Structure, Support, and a Clear Process
Family Biz Builder is responsible for delivering the services and support confirmed in the participant’s Personal Development Plan.
FBB is not a medical provider, mental-health provider, crisis-response agency, housing provider, or social-services agency.
When a participant or family needs FBB’s role, the team may recommend or provide a referral to a qualified community organization.
Progress Requires More Than Enrollment.
FBB can provide tools, structure, trained people, and a clear plan. The participant and family must also take an active role.
